The Sukhishvili Georgian National Dance Company
The Sukhishvili Georgian National Dance Company was founded by the renowned dance couple Iliko Sukhishvili and Nino Ramishvili. The 70-strong ensemble’s repertoire includes folk dances of Georgia’s various ethnic groups and theatricals with live music played on folk instruments.
The ensemble’s trademark is its breathtaking capacity to leap, which only a few dancers in the world can do as the performers surge up like birds flying to the sun.
The Georgian National Dance Company was the only dance ensemble to set a world record at the famous La Scala stage in Milan, where the curtain rose 14 times. While in the United States, Sukhishvili concerts were twice recognized as the best shows on Broadway.
